MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 01, 2005 SELECT BOARD MEETING
Board members present were Ron Lafreniere, Ken Richardson, Pat Mallow and John
Devine. Also present were Town Clerk Deb LaRiviere and Road Foreman Eric Andrews.
The meeting was called to order at 6pm.
- Road Foreman Eric Andrews met with the Board to discuss road crew member
Dave Root. Pat motioned: “To offer to road crew member Dave Root the following:
A $1 per hour raise to be effective immediately. The Town of Bolton will also
pay for the CDL permit, CDL test and the first CDL license. The CDL must be
obtained before November 01, 2005 and another $1 per hour pay increase to
go into effect when the CDL is acquired.” Ron seconded. There was no
other discussion, all in favor, motioned passed.
- The Board discussed with Andrews a request from Catamount/Bolton for circular
drive curb cut for their new wedding pavilion. The Board agrees with the road
foreman that a circular drive is safer than having guests enter and exit through
a single access. The Board will sign off with conditions on a double curb
cut for this one application only.
The Board requested that Andrews change the speed limit signs from the ‘Welcome
to Bolton Valley’ sign to end of the town highway. The Board also asked that
a ‘School Bus Stop Ahead’ sign be placed near Thacher and Wentworth Roads.
Eric will handle these two items. He would like permission to use any funds
leftover from the Mill Brook Road job for additional paving. The Town hasn’t
received any state funds for paving in the past three years and he would like
to be able to do more than was budgeted. The Board was agreeable to that.
- Bob Fries met with the Board to bring them up to date on what’s going on
at the Resort and with the new lift and the permitting process.
- Board members and the Town Clerk have received several complaints regarding
the gravel pit on the upper Notch Road. Dick Ward met with pit operator Craig
Cowles once and is expecting him in the office again tomorrow during Ward’s
office hours.
- At the August 15 meeting, the Board would like to meet the Planning Commission
for some updates. At that time the Board would also like to continue discussing
and working on an ATV ordinance. The gravel pit will be on the agenda as well.
- Ken motioned: “To accept the minutes from the July 17, 2005 meeting.”
Seconded by John. There were no changes or corrections. The motion was passed.
- Warrants were signed.
- The Board reviewed the data sheet and worked on setting a tax rate. Ken
motioned: “To set a town tax rate at $0.79 per hundred.” Ron seconded.
There was no other discussion, all were in favor, motion passed.
There was no other business to be brought before this Board at this time. Ron
motioned to end the meeting, seconded by Pat. The meeting closed at 7:45pm.
Attest:
Deborah LaRiviere, Town Clerk
