MINUTES FROM THE MAY 05, 2003 SELECT BOARD MEETING
Board members present were Dave Johnson, Pete Siegel, Jerry Mullen and John Devine. Also present was Town Clerk Deborah LaRiviére. The meeting was called to order at 6pm.
The Board reviewed minutes from the April 28, 2003 ,meeting. Dave motioned: “To accept the minutes from the April 28, 2003 meeting.” Jerry seconded. There were no changes and no discussion. All were in favor, motion passed.
Bob Fries, Bolton Valley President came before the Board to discuss the upcoming summer events. Fries asked if the Board would consider waiving the permit application and fees for the summer concerts. The Board said they needed the applications, but allow Fries to operate on the honor system and come in after the fact and pay the fee if necessary. Fries would also like to participate in future zoning discussions. He informed the board that he would also be lobbying for the Bolton interchange.
Deputy Sheriff Rob Sylvia met with the Board to present a proposal for the Town to hire the Chittenden County Sheriff’s Department on a part-time basis. With an amendment to the town’s current Motor Vehicle Ordinance, any fines derived from tickets written on Route 2 for speeding in Bolton would be awarded to the town with the exception of approximately 12% that is retained by the state for administrative costs. Dave motioned: “To further investigate this option, getting cost per hour for a sheriff, length of contract required and terms of contract.” Jerry seconded. The Board will revisit this issue at another meeting. There was no other discussion, all
were in favor, motion passed.
Town Attorney Robert Fletcher has asked the Board to sign a Quit Claim Deed, releasing the rights to any Glebe Land that is on the Preston Pond property. This request has come from the Vermont Land Trust, current owners of the property. It was originally thought that no Glebe lots existed on the parcel, but in fact there is one. Jerry motioned: “To have Fletcher draw up a QCD and the Board will sign it.” John seconded. There was no other discussion, all were in favor, motion passed.
Dave will work on propane bid letters.
There was no other business to be brought before this Board at this time. Dave motioned to end the meeting, seconded by John. The meeting closed at 7:30.
