MINUTES
FROM THE
Board members present were Pete Siegel, Dave Johnson and John Devin.
Also present were Town Clerk Deborah LaRiviére and appraiser Kermit Blaisdell. The meeting was called to order at
Kermit addressed the issue of the Green Mountain Club’s proposed
purchase of a tract of land from Bolton Valley Holiday Resort. There had been
some confusion as to what impact this sale would have on the tax revenue for
the town. When the GMC made their presentation, some of the data was unclear. Blaisdell explained how land in the Current Use program
already generates tax revenues at a lower rate. The piece of property in
question is enrolled in the program and therefore the tax impact should be
minimal. Minimal, meaning that yes the town will receive less tax dollars from
tax payers, and less dollars from the current use
program, but will receive more tax dollars from the state in the form of PILOT
payments. (The PILOT program pays taxes on state owned lands, but pays on a tax
rate they set and they do not pay any education tax rate).
There was no other business to be brought before this Board at this
time.
Pete motioned to end the meeting, seconded by John. This meeting closed
