MINUTES FROM THE AUGUST 13, 2002 SELECT BOARD MEETING
Board members present were Dave Johnson, John Devin, Jerry Mullen, Pete Siegel and Ron Lafreniere. Also present was Town Clerk Deborah LaRiviére. The meeting was called to order at 7pm.
Susan Shea (GMC) and Lars Botzojorns (Bolton Conservation Commission) met with the Board to discuss the proposed purchase of a tract of BVHR land by the Green Mountain Club. The basic presentation showed that the town would not be losing any large amount of tax dollars even though the parcel would be turned over to the State of Vermont from the GMC. The GMC is looking for a support letter from the Board. Several board members questioned the content of the prepared statement, which outlined the tax issue for the town. Jerry motioned: “To write a letter of support for the Green Mountain Club.” There was no second for the motion, motion failed. The Board would like more clarification on the tax piece. Deb will ask Kermit Blaisdell of Vermont Appraisal Company to meet with the Board to explain some of this. The Board will review the request for the support after meeting with Blaisdell.
The Board reviewed a letter from Ann and Don Whitman expressing concerns over the Patrick Smith sub-division. (file: correspondence) Smith has met the criteria noted in his Conditional Use permit. The Board would like to review the conditions of his permit. Deb will find.
The Board would like to put the old 1-ton up for sale. It was suggested that a ‘For Sale’ sign by the side of the road would be sufficient.
The Board reviewed the bid for new equipment for the new 1-ton. Iroquois’ bid is $7100 and they can take the truck immediately. Jerry motioned: “To authorize the highway department to send the truck to Iroquois to be outfitted.” Second by John. There was no discussion, all were in favor, motion passed.
Jerry and Deb will attend the Vermont Law Review Seminar.
The Board reviewed the Interim Zoning changes and signed the original document.
The Board discussed the request of Peter Tobia to have interest and legal fees abated from his property that was sold at tax sale. The Board would like Delinquent Tax Collector Joan Pecor to review old notes and see what address Tobia left with the town as correct.
There was no other business to be brought before this board at this time.
Attest:
Deborah LaRiviére
