MINUTES FROM THE OCTOBER 15, 2001 SELECTMEN’S MEETING

Board members present were Ron Lafreniere, John Devin, Pete Siegel, Jerry Mullen and Dave Johnson and Town Clerk Deb LaRiviere. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.

The Board discussed replacing Tony Barbagallo as Regional Planning Rep. Hallie McEvoy is the Alternate and should be contacted.  Jim Bralisch from the Planning Commission should also be contacted. Deb will do.

A letter from Planning Chair Linda Baker regarding the upcoming request for an addition to the existing communication tower was read.

John motioned to adjourn this meeting in order to commence a Board of Civil Authority Meeting. Jerry seconded. The Selectmen’s meeting adjourned at 6:15.

The Selectmen’s meeting reconvened at 6:45.

The CSWD again has funds for the Town to use for cleaning. Several areas were discussed. Ron will check on some things before the Board makes a decision.

Treasurer’s Reports for September were read.

The Board would like Dick to give an opinion as to what the Board can do to resolve the Reynolds issue. Reynolds’ fence is in disrepair and the pieces of structure that he erected on the Stage Road property are falling down and present what the Board feels is a safety issue. Deb will pass this on to Dick.

The Board reviewed minutes from August 20, September 17, October 10 and July 09. Pete motioned: “To approve the minutes from these dates.” Ron seconded. There were no corrections, changes or discussion. All were in favor, motion passed.

The Board discussed the old town road (FKA Catchapaw Road) between Maurice Bisson’s property and Ralph Rockwood. Residents have requested that the road (considered a Town 3 highway) and accessing only Dave Fuller meadow, be thrown-up. Pete motioned: “To look into the possibility of discontinuing this highway and discuss this further at the next meeting.”  Jerry seconded. Ron will do some research and report back on November 04.

Bolton Valley’s application for an extension on an ACT 250 permits for Snow Pond Road was read.

Dan Percy and Donna Booher from Allstate met with the Board to discuss disability insurance for employees. This type of coverage would be an item paid for by the employees themselves. Deb will distribute the information to the others.

Don Atwood has asked to buy salt from the Town for use plowing the school parking lots in the district.  Jerry motioned: “To allow Don Atwood to purchase salt from the Town to use when plowing the school parking lots.”  Pete seconded. Ron specified that he would approve this only because the plowing was for the District’s schools and this was not a practice that the Board should implement in other circumstances. There was no other discussion, all were in favor, motion passed.

There was no other business to be brought before this Board at this time.

Jerry motioned to end the meeting, seconded by Pete. The meeting ended at 7:50 pm.

Attest: Deborah LaRiviere
