GIS Data:
A wealth of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data
is available for the Town of Bolton at little or no cost. A great
deal of this data is available for free download from the VGIS website
at http://www.vcgi.org. You can use
the interactive mapping features provided here, or download GIS datasets
to be accessed on your own computer, using special software.
Orthophotos:
The Town of Bolton was digitally photographed from specially
equipped aircraft in 1999. These special aerial photographs were
georeferenced and corrected to meet national map accuracy standards
by the State of Vermont and are now available for the cost of electronic
reproduction. The 1:5000 scale orthophotos are available to Bolton
residents as a two CD set for $10 by calling Stephen Barner at 434-4497.
Please allow up to 2 weeks for copying and delivery. If you are
not a resident of Bolton, or if you would like paper copies of these
maps, please check the
Vermont Mapping Program website.
Software:
GIS datasets are designed to be manipulated and viewed
in GIS software, such as ESRI ArcView. Free versions of this type
of software are available for download from ESRI's website,
http://www.esri.com/software.
Look for ArcReader and ArcExplorer in the "Free Viewers" section.
